MHRA updates guidance page on UK GLP programme members
The 14 October 2026 update concerns the UK GLP compliance monitoring programme membership list. The entry does not announce new regulatory obligations.

What Changed
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has updated its guidance page on good laboratory practice (GLP) for chemical safety testing. The change entry dated 14 October 2026 states that a list of UK GLP compliance monitoring programme members was added.
The page points to a 14-page current-members PDF. The supplied text does not include the attachment’s facility names or identify additions or removals.
Who Is Affected
The guidance covers facilities conducting regulatory safety studies involving pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, veterinary medicines, industrial chemicals, cosmetics, food and animal-feed additives, and biocides.
The programme is run by the UK GLP Monitoring Authority (UK GLPMA) and is open only to UK facilities. Facilities contracted to undertake part of a larger regulatory study should also usually be members.
Regulatory and Technical Implications
The October entry is an administrative membership-list update, not an announcement of new testing rules or medical-device-specific obligations. Existing guidance says all programme facilities should be able to provide a statement of GLP compliance on request.
The page also explains that facilities can expect monitoring inspections every 12 to 30 months after their implementation inspection. This is background guidance, not a new condition introduced by the list update.
Manufacturer Actions
Manufacturers commissioning safety studies within the listed sectors can check a facility against the current membership list and request its compliance statement. These are verification steps rather than newly announced obligations.
For information about facilities absent from the list, the guidance directs enquiries to gxplabs@mhra.gov.uk. Where exceptional circumstances require part of a study to be contracted to a non-member facility, the study director must ensure GLPMA guidance is followed.
Confirmed Dates
The guidance was first published on 18 December 2014 and records its latest update as 14 October 2026. A separate membership-list update is recorded for 9 October 2026.
The 2026–2027 membership-fee update is attributed to 7 August 2026. The latest membership-list entry announces no new implementation or compliance deadline.
