MHRA announces recall of one Accord-UK lercanidipine 10 mg batch
Accord-UK is recalling batch M2510877 at pharmacy and wholesaler level after a 10 mg carton was found to contain a blister strip of 20 mg tablets.

What Changed
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has announced a Class 2 medicines recall involving one batch of Accord-UK Ltd's Lercanidipine Hydrochloride 10mg Film-Coated Tablets following a packaging mix-up between strengths.
A single complaint concerned a sealed carton from batch M2510877 containing one correct blister strip and one blister strip of 20 mg tablets from batch M2510831. The recalled batch is M2510877, supplied in packs of 28 tablets.
Who Is Affected
The recall applies at pharmacy and wholesaler level, rather than patient level. Pharmacies, dispensing GP practices and distributors holding the affected batch need to address their stock.
Patients prescribed 10 mg tablets who received an Accord pack from batch M2510877 are asked to check the blister labels carefully. If the strips are labelled 10 mg, no further action is needed and patients may continue taking the tablets. If a strip is labelled 20 mg, patients should not take that medicine and should contact their pharmacy.
Regulatory and Technical Implications
The MHRA notice describes the likelihood of the mix-up and resulting patient risk as low. The tablets have distinct colours, and 20 mg remains within the product's authorised therapeutic dose range. Nevertheless, taking 20 mg daily instead of 10 mg for approximately two weeks could produce an exaggerated pharmacological effect, particularly reduced blood pressure.
Patients who believe they have taken 20 mg tablets and are currently experiencing dizziness, headache, flushing or palpitations should seek immediate medical advice. They should take the medicine leaflet and remaining tablets to their pharmacy or GP practice. Suspected adverse reactions should also be reported through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.
Manufacturer Actions
Marketing authorisation holder Accord-UK Ltd is recalling the affected batch. The MHRA instructs healthcare professionals to stop supplying it immediately, quarantine remaining stock and return it using their supplier's approved process.
If a patient presents a pack containing the incorrect medicine, pharmacy teams are asked to use their professional judgement to supply the correct medication.
Confirmed Dates
The notice was published and issued on 29 October 2026. Batch M2510877 was first distributed on 24 June 2026 and has an expiry date of November 2028.
